Loh Kean Yew will face a different challenger after reigning world champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn withdrew from PERODUA Malaysia Masters 2024. Loh, previously the No.6 seed, will now take on Wang Tzu Wei in the first round, replacing the No.4 seed.
Under the new draw management regulations, which came into force last week at the Thailand Open, a third or fourth seed who withdraws before the end of the team managers’ meeting will be replaced by a player seeded fifth to eighth in the same quarter. Former world champion Loh was previously drawn to face 2022 winner Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo.
The Seed Withdrawal Movement also means Lin Chun-yi will meet Ygor Coelho, who was promoted from qualifying into the main draw.
Malaysia will have much to celebrate as Karupathevan Letshanaa is also into the main draw following three withdrawals in women’s singles.
The other withdrawals are:
Men’s Singles
Women’s Singles
Women’s Doubles
